First Day Of School 2013

Dear Students

Welcome back. We hope you enjoyed your break. Some reminders:

A.  For ALL students

  1. Morning Assembly will be held at the Indoor Sports Hall (ISH). Please report in your school uniform by 7.40am, Wednesday, 2 Jan 2013.
  2. Please bring along the following for the morning programme on Wednesday, 2 Jan.
    1. A portable, self-created ‘musical’ instrument made out of recycled material. Be as creative as you can. (For example, used drink cans filled with beans or sand/ wooden ladles and metal plates/cardboard percussion etc)
    2. Dry food Items (see suggested list below) that will be collected at school-wide level, for the purpose of donating to welfare organisations. Please deposit your food items at the Gym (next to the ISH) when you arrive at school. The Gym will be opened at 7.20am.
    3. Art materials to be used for designing ‘New Year Cheer’ cards for beneficiaries of welfare organisations. For example, construction paper, magic pens, markers, scissors, pen knives, glitter paint pens etc. A plain ‘New Year Cheer’ card will be given to each student for the card design.
  3. The timetable for the week is attached here.

B.  For Secondary 1 ONLY
  1. Your class lists are attached here.
  2. The Orientation Programme is attached here.
  3. Please be reminded that you will need to purchase the SST Sports & Wellness shorts from the bookshop for the Orientation (as per the packing list).
  4. Please be reminded to bring your Orientation Consent Form.
  5. Please submit the Acceptable Use Policy Reply Slip to the Form Teachers by 4 Jan 2012.
  6. Please be reminded to bring your thermometer on 2 Jan 2013 (Note: There will be another temperature-taking exercise on 7 Jan 2013.)

C.  For Secondary 3 ONLY
  1. Your class lists are attached here.
  2. Students taking Design Studies (from S3-03, S3-04 and S3-05) will have a make-up lesson on Wed 2 Jan 2013, 2.30pm at the ADMT studio.

D.  For Secondary 4  ONLY
  1. There will be a photo-taking session with Principal and Vice-Principal on 2 Jan 2013.
  2. All AS Biotechnology students will have a review of the 2012 AS Biotechnology End-of-Year Examination on Wed, 2 Jan 2013, 2.30pm at the Seminar Room.


Suggested List of Food Items

Please bring along any of the following items listed on the first day of school
  • White/Brown rice (5kg / 2.5 kg)
  • Milo (tin / packet)
  • Condensed milk (canned)
  • Cereals (tin / packet)
  • Soy Sauce (1 litre / 1.5 litre)
  • Cooking oil (1 litre . 1.5 litre)
  • Salt (packet)
  • Biscuits (tin/ packet)
  • Canned food (halal / non-halal)
  • Bee Hoon (packet)
  • Instant noodles / Porridge (cup / packet)

    1. This reply is only applicable to SEC 1 students:

      We understand (from the vendor) that some Sec 1 students will only collect their Learning Device in the next couple of weeks.
      For the time being, these students may share the learning device with their classmates.

  4. How do i get my child's SST email account?

    1. Your child may check one of the early blog posting with the subject title "Y2013 S1 Students: Signing into your School Email Account (Google Apps)" dated 23 Nov 2012. Your should be able to find his email address there.

      Alternatively, he can check with his form teacher, too :)

  5. is there any specific shoe to wear. for the wet activities?

    1. For wet activities, any extra pair (other than the one normally worn) of closed toe shoes will do.
